Where to Stay in Rome

Rome offers endless choices of accommodations, ranging from fancy hotels, to small family run hotels and of course youth hostels. The older part of the city if rather compact and easy to navigate on foot, so when you are choosing your hotel we encourage you to choose on the basis of the amenities and ambiance rather than location. If you intend to stay for only a night, you may want to narrow the area to the very heart of Rome, perhaps a hotel near the Spanish steps or Trevi fountain.

Hotel or apartment?
If you are only in Rome for a couple of nights, a hotel is probably the best choice for you. If you're planning an extended stay, you should consider a small apartment that you can go home and relax in and cook your own meals. (see Hotels or Not)
