Venice, how to get there?
Venice is very easy to reach by land, air and sea.
Train
If you are flying in to another major city such as Rome or Milan, an easy
train ride on Italy's Eurostar will get you right into the heart of Venice
in just a few hours. Make sure you get off at the Santa Lucia station; many
people mistakenly get off at the Mestre station and then have to wait for
the next train to get into the city. Once you exit the train station a traghetto
(water bus) will take you to any part of Venice you wish to visit.
Car
Venice is made up of narrow allies and canals; therefore if you decide to
drive, you will have to park your vehicle just outside the city in one of
the many large parking garages that are available for a fee. Once you park
your car you can take a waterbus into the city.
Plane
Venice's Marco Polo airport is about 13 Km from Venice. If you fly in, you
will have the choice of getting into the city by car, boat, train, bus or
taxi. For details ask at the airport. We recommend taking the short (10
minute) train ride, or taking the city bus #5 which departs every half hour.
Cruise Ship
The Cruise Ship terminal is located at the Port of Venice in S.Marta. Cruise
Ships offer free shuttle boat service from their dock to Piazza San Marco.
